And now was acknowledged the presence of the Red Death. He had come like a thief in the night. And one by one dropped the revelers in the blood-bedewed halls of their revel, and died each in the despairing posture of his fall. And the life of the ebony clock went out with that of the last of the gay. And the flames of the tripods expired. And Darkness and Decay and the Red Death held sway over all.

I've wanted to do a picture like this for a while.

I love "The Masque of the Red Death" by Edgar A. Poe.
Always have...

Been reading the Shining by Stephen King and he references this work alot in the book...in fact...it seems like it's a nice piece OF the story as well.

Well here be the Red Death...done in ink, watercolor...and salt

I am a fan of how people view death! And i must say i like what you have done!
I love how deaths detail becomes steadily more from his head down to his cloak's edges!
And the background suits him well.

But for me its always a pleasure to read the story or reason behind the piece and the excerpt from -masque of the red death just adds so much more volume to this piece!

I thin ki am keeping this one for myself! :D :+fav:
